Caleb and Juliana
Cusco, Peru
Cusco, Peru
Caleb and Juliana met in Brazil six years ago. After years of long distance, the two of them decided to meet up in Peru for a romantic reunion and they invited us to tag along for the ride (Double date in Peru? Boo-yah! Welcome to Kuzcotopia, my ultimate summer getaway, complete with water slide. We're there.)
We met up in Cusco and were feeling adventurous so we decided to try alpaca and genuine pig which resulted in food poisoning and then we got hit by some intense altitude sickness (four people, one bathroom) BUT that didn't throw off our groove.
We felt great while we were out and about hiking Sacred Valley with llamas and alpacas, exploring Machu Picchu and climbing Rainbow Mountain. The people in Peru had such a vibrate energy to them and the whole city was one of the most colorful and friendly places we've ever been.
Did you know that Rainbow Mountain wasn't visible until a few years ago? The reason why we can see it now is because the glacier caps that used to cover it in ice and snow have melted. How crazy is it that such a popular tourism destination is the direct result of climate change? (check out our blog post here to read more about our thoughts on that)
The whole trip was a dream. We can't believe we get to hang out with rad couples and explore insane landscapes all over the world for a living all while quoting The Emperor's New Groove. So insanely grateful.
